KVK, Peruvannamuzhi organizes three days skill development training on coconut value added products development
          Coconut is an important perennial tree available in about 1.2 lakhs hectare area of Kozhikode District. It is often referred as “Kalpavriksha” and source for several value added products development. The present pest and disease problem, fall of coconut price makes major threats to this crop and its allied sectors.
        In order to boost economic viability of this crop efforts are made by leading coconut research institutions by development of several value added products. In line with that, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Indian Institute of Spices Research, Peruvannamuzhi in association with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Central Plantations Crops Research Institute, kasaragode organizing three days skill development training on “coconut value added products development”  to twenty five progressive farm women from eight dryers developed and promoted by Perambra Coconut Producers Company. The training was inaugurated today by James Yedachery, Chairman, Perambra Coconut Producers Company, Perambra and presided by Dr. P. Ratha Krishnan, Programme Coordinator, KVK. Training class was conducted by Ms, Deepthi, Subject Matter Specialist of KVK. Earlier K.M. Prakash, SMS, KVK welcomed the trainees while Unni Krishnan, CEO, PCPC, Perambra conveyed vote of thanks at the end. The training comprises classes on different value added products development viz., coconut chips, virgin coconut oil, spray-dried coconut milk powder, desiccated coconut powder, coconut vinegar, etc. with practical and exposure visit to coconut processing companies and CPCRI, Kasaragode.
